Sanam Re Movie Review

But that isn’t the only illogicality that the film wallows in. The town that Akash and Shruti belong to is a place where winter never ends and the bright blue river that flows near it never freezes.Sanam Re. In one scene, actress Urvashi Rautela shakes her ample booty dressed in a white outfit with what seems like macramé trimmings. She leans her back against Pulkit’s body, encircles his neck with her raised arms, jumps in the air, does a mid-air split, then sinks down with both legs spread wide apart. A few seconds after that laughable routine, there she is again, bending to plant both hands on the ground where Pulkit lies, then throwing the rest of her body up in the air in what appears to be an attempt at a hand stand, before descending on his prone body.

It all starts there, when Aakash (Pulkit Samrat) and Shruti (Yami Gautam) are still kids. As destiny planned, they fall in love with each other. Cliched, did you just say? Wait, there’s more. As expected, they choose separate paths, but destiny decides this is not how they’re supposed to live their lives. What do we believe in: Love or luck or both? Can love happen twice, or with another person? You know the usual questions.

The alleged plot of the film is incoherent, cliche-ridden and was probably written by the children who appear in the intermittent flashbacks. The movie begins with Akash (Pulkit Samrat) who is too busy struggling up the corporate ladder to find time for love or even answer his mother’s phone calls. Even as he allows his obnoxious boss (a hammy Manoj Joshi) to bully him, he can’t escape the life that he has left behind in Tanakpur, a place, where no matter what time of the year it is, the CGI snow keeps falling. When Akash is called home to help sell off the derelict photo studio that once belonged to his ailing grandfather we are helpfully given some glimpses into the past so that the director can drive home the point of the film,The music is , in fact, the narrative’s mainstay. Director Divya Khosla Kumar uses the set pieces in a flow of abundant emotions captured on inviting sun-kissed and snow-capped locations. Then there is Rishi Kapoor as the family patriarch struggling to keep his family business of photography alive during a time when civilization has switched to selfies. Such ideas of  progress, or what we look at as progress in modern times, is well defined and ably projected into the drama. The entire episode of Rishi Kapoor and his little grandson is very evidently inspired by Guiseppe Tornatore’s  classic study of nostalgia and love Cinema Paradiso. Sanam Re Movie Review rating hit or flop total collection ,
